PROPOSAL DEADLINE: January 16, 2009

The National Reading Styles Institute is a research-based educational organization dedicated to improving literacy. Our mission is to help create great teachers of reading. NRSI serves the needs of professionals, paraprofessionals, parents and others in education and is seeking a balance of presentations including pre-school, elementary, secondary, adult, administrative, bilingual and special ed. for each conference. The planning committee for the conference seeks sessions on innovative practical experiences, program and applied research in the following areas:
• The Basics of Reading Styles
• Core Methods and Strategies for High Rapid Reading Gains
• Exemplary Reading Styles Materials for High, Rapid Gains
• Exemplary Reading Styles Programs
• Brain-Friendly, Motivating Reading Styles Strategies
• Designing Activities and Materials that Promote Active Learning
• Starting a Reading Styles Program: A Guide for School Leaders
• Assessing Reading Progress
• Managing the Reading Styles Change Process
• Parents as Partners: Teaching Parents About Reading Styles
• Making Connections: Reading Styles Across the Curriculum, Multiple Intelligences, Reading Interests, etc.


You may propose a session that focuses on the topics outlined above. Proposed sessions will be 1 hour in length.

Proposals must include:

1. Contact information (including a valid home/summer address and email address as communications
regarding the conference will be made by mail or email up until the date of the conference).
2. Conference Strand
3. Title of Session
4. Level of Session
5. Session description appropriate for use in the conference program. (maximum 50 words)
6. Brief narrative including a summary of the content of the presentation, presentation techniques
(hands-on, lecture, Power Point, processing time, etc.) to be used. (maximum 150 words)
7. Audiovisual equipment needed for the session.
8. Presenting experience—past presentations you have made (up to 3) including title, audience and
site of presentation.
9. Co-Presenters, if any.
