A Reading Program That Changes Lives

The Carbo Reading Styles Program (CRSP) has changed teaching practices and students’ lives. Teachers trained in the program know their students’ strengths, and differentiate instruction so that learning to read becomes easy, challenging, and fun. As students learn at faster rates, they become increasingly engaged in learning and their behavior improves dramatically.

The Transformation: Higher Reading Achievement, Motivation, Confidence

These transformations have occurred mainly with high-risk children at all grade levels in short periods of time. At Immokalee High School in Naples, Florida, at-risk high school students gained two years in reading comprehension in only seven weeks; at Paterson Elementary in Montgomery, Alabama, 99.9% of the children at or below the poverty level, gained 10 percentile points in reading across all grade levels in two years; and at West Amory Elementary School (Amory, MS), Title I students achieved the highest NCE gains in their state. The changes in children’s lives are real.

Nationally Validated, Documented Research

The Carbo Reading Styles Program is listed as a research-based language arts program by the Northwest Regional Labs (funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education), the Education Commission of the States, the National Staff Development Council, the National Education Association, and numerous state departments. During the past 20 years, more than 20 field studies and 18 published studies have verified the exciting transformation that occurs when students learn through their reading style strengths.
